Dundas picked up their second win of the round robin on Monday night as Phil Brewer scored three times and Nathan Longpre added a pair, defeating the Innisfail Eagles 5-2.

Brewer opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game on a goal mouth scramble. Longpre then scored the next two goals, taking a pass in the slot and wristing the puck past the Eagles netminder at 6:26 and then tipping in a pass from Cam Fergus with 5:58 left in the first.

Innisfail would get on the board before the period closed when Parker Smyth collected the loose puck and deked McCoys’ goalie Ryan Demelo but put it into his pads. Shawn Bates crashed the net and put it over the goal line to cut the Dundas lead to two heading to the intermission.

The Eagles made it a one-goal game late in the second period when Ty Clay backhanded a rebound into the McCoys net just seven seconds into a power play.

Brewer closed out the game with a pair of goals, scoring on a tip in on a shot from the point 3:07 into the final frame and then sealing the victory with an empty netter from his own zone with 27 seconds left on the clock.

Demelo picked up the win, stopping 33 of 35 shots he faced in the Dundas net. At the opposite end of the ice, Brodan Salmond allowed 4 goals on 43 shots.

With the win, the Real McCoys are a win away from clinching a bye right to Saturday’s championship. However, before they get there, they will face the Stoney Creek Tigers on Wednesday night starting at 7:30pm. For the Eagles, they will be battling to get to the semi-final game in their final round robin game against the Southern Shore Breakers Wednesday afternoon at 3pm. Both games will be played at the J.L. Grightmire Arena in Dundas.
