[Hamilton, Ontario] – The Allan Cup Hockey League (“ACH”), Ontario’s premier senior hockey league, is aggressively embarking on an exciting new chapter with a significant expansion by adding several franchises in Southern Ontario for a chance to compete for Canada's Oldest National Hockey Championship.

ACH has retained Canada’s leading sports marketing firm Cosmos Sports & Entertainment (“Cosmos”) to handle the search process.

The expansion comes as part of a strategic initiative to promote and celebrate the rich tradition of amateur hockey while providing enhanced opportunities for players and teams in new communities. ACH currently has teams in Dundas, Stoney Creek, Wentworth and our newest franchise Richmond Hill.

The Dundas Real McCoys defeated Newfoundland for their second straight Allan Cup Challenge this past weekend, on a national broadcast on CHCH TV in front of a standing room only crowd. This was the Real McCoys 3rd win of the last 7 competed for. Broadcasting legend Rod Black along with former Leaf and 3-time 50 goal scorer Rick Vaive provided play by play commentary.

Cosmos owner Cary Kaplan who was past president of both the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) and the Brampton Beast (ECHL) expressed his enthusiasm about ACH expansion stating,

“Many Canadians dream of owning a hockey franchise with a relatively modest investment. The ACH provides that unique opportunity to own a team in a storied league. We expect franchises to move relatively quickly and encourage all those interested to contact us to learn more.”

Rick Richardson, Allan Cup Hockey Commissioner, on the new franchise opportunities says,

“We are very excited in expanding our ever-growing ACH league and each team will be provided the opportunity to challenge for the Allan Cup also known as the Senior amateur hockey champions of Canada”

The Allan Cup Hockey League expansion is expected to generate increased interest and participation from hockey teams, players, and fans in Southern Ontario, reaffirming its status as a cornerstone event in the Canadian hockey landscape.

About Allan Cup Hockey
Allan Cup Hockey (ACH), formerly Major League Hockey until 2011, is the top tier Canadian senior ice hockey league in the province of Ontario. Founded in 1990, as the Southwestern Senior "A" Hockey League, the ACH is a member of the Ontario Hockey Association and
Hockey Canada. The ACH's champion contends for the Allan Cup each year.

The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded to the national senior amateur men’s ice hockey champions of Canada. The trophy (Canada’s oldest amateur hockey trophy) was donated in 1908 by Sir H. Montagu Allan as a trophy for amateur teams, to replace the Stanley Cup, whose tournament had become a professional competition.
