Wentworth got back into the win column on Friday night when eight different players scored against the Dundas Real McCoys at the J. L. Grightmire Arena
It was the Gryphins who got on the scoreboard first as Troy Maclean picked up his first goal of the season, followed by Matt Beca three minutes later for the early 2-0 lead. Dom Monardo would pick up an assist on each of the goals. Dundas cut the lead in half on Igor Gongalsky’s goal just past the halfway point of the opening period.
Corey Caruso would notch his first career ACH goal for Wentworth with 6:55 left in the first but Jarrett Konkle would get the home side back within a goal prior to the period ending.
The second period would see the teams trading goals. Marc Anthony Simonetta and Pery D’Arriso would score for the Gryphins while Cam Fergus and Konkle replied to keep it a one-goal game.
Wentworth came out firing in the third period. Anthony Pinelli, who had a pair of assists earlier in the game, found the back of the net at 2:51, giving the road team some insurance. Alex Hutchings and Monardo would also score in the period to secure the win for the Gryphins.
Devyn Clark picked up the win for Wentworth, stopping 31 of 35 shots while Mike Mole made 35 saves at the other end of the ice for the McCoys who also picked up an assist.
The Gryphins are back on the ice Saturday night in Stoney Creek against the Tigers starting at 6:30pm at Gateway Ice Centre. Dundas will look to right the ship on Saturday December 9 at Stoney Creek.
