Miners shut-out Bucs
by Lauren Petri
July 27th
The Mat-Su Miners and Anchorage Bucs were scoreless through the first five innings. In the sixth inning, Nolan Tucker hit an RBI triple to score the first run of the game in Maddox Haley. Tucker scored on a single by Kaleb Hannahs. Then in the seventh, Alex Vegara scored on a double by Steven Lancia, who scored on a single by Tucker. Finally in the ninth, the Miners added five more runs on only three hits. The Miners pitching staff only allowed two hits in all nine innings. Candon Dahle pitched six innings, striking out seven and walking four. Larry Westall pitched two innings, striking out one. The two hits for the Bucs both came from Zach Thomas, and even with the bases loaded in the ninth, the Bucs couldn't manage to score. The Bucs will need to win their game against the Miners tomorrow to keep their hopes of first place.
Final Score: Mat-Su Miners 9, Anchorage Bucs 0
