Team Pennsylvania closed out the BRICK Tournament with a bang on Friday night by defeating Toronto Pro Hockey in overtime, 2-1.
Tyler Smith scored the first goal of the game in the first period with help from Eli Baugh who was credited with the assist. In the second period, Toronto scored on the powerplay to knot the game 1-1. That would be the last goal in regulation and the game headed to sudden death 3-on-3 overtime.
In overtime, Cooper Hackett wasted no time, winning the faceoff and driving right down the center of the ice and wristing a quick shot past the goalie for the game-winning goal a mere five seconds into the extra frame. It capped off an incredible individual performance at the tournament for Hackett who ended up with 10 goals and 12 total points. It was also the icing on the cake for a Team Pennsylvania who fought hard all tournament and ended up with a winning record of 3-2-1 and a team record 8 total points.

“I’m so happy for the kids," said Coach Edwards after the game. We’ve talked about overcoming adversity all spring and wow did they ever do that today. I’m just so happy for them.
While we fell short of advancing to the playoffs, this team can hold their heads high holding a new Team PA points record here at the Brick. They have set a new standard for the program and we look forward to the 2014's continuing to push us to the next level.”
Congrats to all of the members of Team Pennsylvania on an outstanding performace at the 2023 BRICK Tournament!
