OAKS BLUFF — The Mystic Schooners baseball team (17-10) earned its 10th road win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Martha’s Vineyard on Monday night at the Shark Tank.
The Schooners received a great pitching performance and strong defense along with some timely base running to move to 3-1 on the season against the Sharks.
Matt Nunan (Boston College) earned his first win of the season with 5.0 strong innings, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out four batters.
Reid Easterly (Yale University) continued his strong start to the season throwing two scoreless innings of relief. The Katy, Texas native has now not given up a run over his last seven outings as his ERA is now at 0.54 on the year.
Right-hander Ben Gorski (Rutgers University) came and secured his second save of the year by getting Vineyard infielder Danny Crossen to ground out to second baseman Logan Allen for the third out of the ninth. Gorski has now not given up a run over his last four outings.
Kevin Ferrer extended his hitting streak to six games after going 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Anthony Donofrio (Quinnipiac University) had his third multi-hit game including scoring two runs.
With the win, the Schooners have won eight of their last 10 games.
