2022-2023 Schedule Release
Date: Jun 15, 2022
OSWEGO – The Lakers are proud to announce the commitment of Goaltender, Joey Jamison. The 2001 birth year from Plattsburgh, NY will join the Lakers after spending the last 3 seasons in the EHLP, most recently with the Worcester Jr. Railers organization. During his three year junior career, Jamison accumulated 34 games played with a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 4.10, Save% of .909 and 6 shutouts. At 6’3" and 215lb, Jamison brings some depth at the goaltending position after losing 4 year starter in Alex Gallose.
“Jamison is a player that was on our radar most of the year through one of my contacts in Boston. He is a big, athletic goaltender who plays a unique style that can steal you a game. He plays with a bit of attitude that can frustrate opponents and knock them off their game. Coming in as a freshman with some junior experience will add a solid amount of depth to our rotation,” says Head Coach Travis Hyde. Jamison should fit in well behind expected started Thomas McAleer (Taft Preparatory).
Jamison not only brings his hockey skill to the program, but his IQ off the ice and in the classroom. The incoming freshman has a GPA over 3.7 and will be studying political science with a minor in business and an additional minor in foreign language with hopes to evolve a career as a federal agent. “I chose Oswego not only for the phenomenal political science program, but also because Coach Hyde left no doubt in my mind that I would fit well on campus and in the locker room with the team. The program and rink are top notch and the education was the icing on the cake,” says Jamison.
Jamison spent his 2019-2020 stint with the Boston Jr Rangers in the EHLP alongside two previous commits in Ryan Lempicki and Bailey Doust (Columbus Mavericks - USPHL). When asked about the impact of this, Coach Hyde had a few words: “We recruit culture and character as much as skill. Having some familiarity only positively impacts that chemistry and camaraderie on day one. All of this leads to more trust amongst the team; when you have trust, you have success. That’s a huge goal for us throughout this process.”
