MYSTIC - Halloran & Sage LLP and the Bristol Blues, Valley Blue Sox, Newport Gulls, Mystic Schooners and Danbury Westerners have partnered together for a season-long battle for the Halloran & Sage Cup.
“When I was named Managing Partner of Halloran & Sage this past fall, it was an opportunity to introduce new initiatives to rally our attorneys and staff and unite our offices across the region,” Halloran & Sage Managing Partner Jeffrey F Gostyla said. "Our firm has a longstanding commitment to our communities, and a record of involvement as sponsors, volunteers, and engaged participants. The Halloran & Sage Cup is in line with that, and adds a fun, team-based, baseball emphasis.”
The cup series will begin June 8 with a double-header when Bristol travels to Valley while Mystic travels to Newport.
“We are excited to be a part of this newly established quest for the Halloran Sage Cup. We believe it is a creative, fun way for a rivalry to be created between teams that may not have one already established,” Bristol Blues general manager Jordie Scheiner said. “Thank you to Halloran & Sage for partnering with the Blues and we are excited to begin the fight for the 2022 Halloran & Sage Cup!”
Each of the teams will receive $1,000 from Halloran & Sage in its sponsorship. Additional deliverables of the sponsorship include: branded Standings Graphic Placed on team’s homepages, a Halloran & Sage banner to be placed at stadiums on Cup Game Days, PA announcements during cup games, social media blasts on cup games and a short read on NECBL broadcast during cup games.
“The Newport Gulls are excited to be included in the inaugural Halloran & Sage Cup. Our organization thanks Jeff Gostyla and his partners at Halloran & Sage for putting this together in support of five teams in the NECBL,” Newport Gulls director of baseball operations Mike Falcone said. “It will be fun to compete in this season within a season as we all chase a Fay Vincent Sr. Cup.”
In recognition of its sponsorship, Halloran & Sage employees will have an opportunity to throw out a first pitch at each of the five stadiums. Additionally, Halloran & Sage representatives will make appearances throughout the season on NECBL Broadcast Network for interviews.
“We're excited to be a part of the inaugural Halloran & Sage Cup this season with the Gulls, Westerners, Schooners, and Blues! This is a great opportunity to build relationships between each of the areas that are home to teams throughout the league,” Valley Blue Sox general manager Kate Avard said. “Everyone from Halloran & Sage has been fantastic to work with thus far and we can't wait to welcome their group out to MacKenzie Stadium this summer!"
The upcoming 2022 season will be the 28th season of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, with the Westerners serving as the reigning Fay Vincent Cup winners.
“The Danbury Westerners are honored to be included in the Halloran & Sage Cup! I have nothing but respect for the other four teams and the people at Halloran & Sage have been wonderful,” Danbury Westerners general manager Chris Nathanson said. “ It really is a perfect fit…and impeccable timing too as our Fay Vincent Cup could use a friend!”
Last season, the five teams drew a combined 78,710 fans in attendance. Across each of its platforms, the five teams have a combined reach of 31,680 likes and follows on Facebook, 8,495 followers on Instagram, and 12,280 followers on Twitter.
“The Cup Series is another way for the NECBL to increase its popularity to our fans and, with the help of Halloran & Sage, hopefully, introduce and grow our brand of summer baseball fun to a new group. We are grateful for their support this summer,” Mystic Schooners general manager Dennis Long said.
Notable Halloran & Sage Cup Major League Baseball Alumni include: Mike Ford (Westerners), Matt Joyce (Westerners), Adam Ottavino (Westerners), Steve Lomardozzi (Valley), Trey Mancini (Valley), Will Smith (Newport), Chris Iannetta (Newport) and Andrew Kittredge (Newport).
“The NECBL has so much to offer our region – family-friendly summer afternoons and evenings that bring people together to watch top-notch amateur collegiate baseball and to support their teams,” Gostyla said.
At Halloran & Sage, we are all about working together as a team to serve our clients and companies across the Southern New England region. There are a lot of parallels there that made this a fitting initiative for our firm, and I am thrilled to introduce what I am sure will be an exciting inaugural Halloran & Sage cup season.”
