NECBL Announces 2025 All-League Honorable Mentions

North Adams, MA – The New England Collegiate Baseball League is proud to announce the 2025 All-NECBL Honorable Mention team in continuation of the First and Second-Team announcement. The honors were voted on by all 13 on-field managers of NECBL franchises. Only regular-season statistics and performances were taken into consideration during the selection process. 

The list concludes the selection of 52 players across three teams: the All-NECBL First Team, the All-NECBL Second Team and the All-NECBL Honorable Mention Team. Each is composed of one player at each non-outfield position (C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B), three outfielders, one designated hitter, three starting pitchers, two relief pitchers, and one closer. In the case of ties, some positions may include additional honorees


 

NECBL 2025 Honorable Mentions

 

The SwampBats lead the way with four players selected to the All-NECBL Honorable Mentions team, followed by the Danbury Westerners and Sanford Mainers with two players selected. Valley, Upper Valley, Mystic, Vineyard, Bristol, and Ocean State all had one player selected to the All-NECBL Honorable Mention Team.


 

C - Jack Lutte (Danbury, Denison)

 

Lutte was the staple behind the dish for the Westerners, earning a 2025 NECBL All-Star nod while appearing in 33 games for Danbury. The catcher batted .324 with 35 knocks, driving in 23 runs and tallying five home runs in his campaign. Lutte registered a .980 fielding percentage with 48 putouts at home and was one of only two players with a season OPS over 1.000 (1.002).


 

1B - Eric Cha (Mystic, Northeastern)    

 

Cha was a key part of the Schooners' season, playing in 33 games with 20 of those being at first base. Cha was known for his power at the plate, batting .312 with five home runs and 25 RBIs. Cha’s fielding was just as stellar, posting a .993 fielding percentage with 128 putouts and eight assists. 


 

2B - AJ Brotz (Upper Valley, Marist)

 

The Upper Valley second baseman put up an excellent season, earning a 2025 NECBL All-Star nod. Brotz appeared in 43 games for the Nighthawks, playing second base in 19 of them. He posted a .278 batting average with 45 hits and 23 RBIs as well as a .950 fielding percentage, with 35 putouts and 41 assists. 

 

SS - Michael Elko (Valley, Richmond)

 

Elko was an anchor for the Blue Sox, appearing in 41 games and earning a 2025 NECBL All-Star nod in the process. The Richmond Spider appeared in 16 games at shortstop for Valley, while showing his versatility in the others. Elko posted a .956 field percentage at the six spot with 29 putouts. He was just as impressive at the plate, batting .248 with 35 hits and 24 RBIs.

 

3B - Nick Romano (Keene, Florida Atlantic)

 

The SwampBat was a cornerstone on the hot corner this season, earning a 2025 NECBL All-Star nod while appearing in 42 games for the 2025 NECBL champions. Romano played more than half of his games at third base, registering a .922 field percentage while batting .273 with 3 home runs and 28 RBIs on 39 hits.

 

DH - Marshall Lipsey (Keene, Florida Atlantic)

 

As the second Owl to appear on the list, Lipsey was a beast at the plate this season, batting .310 with 14 RBIs and 31 hits in 100 at-bats for the SwampBats. He also earned an All-Star nod and was an on-base machine. Lipsey led the NECBL in on-base percentage, getting on at an impressive .496 clip. 

 

OF - Garrett Larsen (Danbury, Yale)

 

Larsen was a hawk in the outfield for Westerners, playing 18 games in the spot while appearing in 34. Larsen batted .298 with 39 hits. He posted a reliable 1.000 fielding percentage with 41 putouts while earning himself an All-Star nod for the South Division. 

 

OF - Will Hampton (Vineyard, Vanderbilt)

 

The Commodore was a key part of the Sharks' season, appearing in 28 games and earning an All-Star nod. Hampton posted a fielding percentage of .941 with 15 putouts and 1 assist. He was just as effective at the plate, driving in 19 RBIs on 32 hits, registering a .337 average. Hampton’s speed was a factor as well, with 18 stolen bases on the season. 

 

OF - Michael O'Brien (Keene, Arkansas-Little Rock)

 

O’Brien was a factor this season for the Swampbats, appearing in 36 games for them, with 19 of those as a roaming outfielder. O’Brien posted a .963 fielding percentage, and his tracking ability allowed him to register 24 putouts. His bat was also a factor for Keene. O’Brien batted .283 with 36 hits in 127 at-bats, adding 6 home runs and 28 RBIs. 


 

SP - Kyle Salvati (North Adams, Franklin Pierce)

 

Salvati started five games for the SteepleCats this season and was stellar in each. The 6’5” righty posted a 1.09 ERA in the summer, striking out 22 over 24.2 innings pitched. He also only allowed 11 hits, pounding the zone en route to earning three wins.

 

SP - Greg Shaw (Valley, UConn)

 

Shaw was a powerful arm in Valley’s early-season rotation. He started six games for the Blue Sox, picking up a 2.02 ERA with 24 punchouts across 26.2 innings. His best outing came against Newport on June 3rd, as he went 5 innings of shutout baseball with six Ks in a tight 1-0 win.

 

SP - Brendan Yagesh (Bristol, Virginia Tech)

 

Yagesh appeared in six games for the Blues, starting four. He commanded the zone in each of his outings, striking out 32 batters over 23 innings. He also pitched an inning of relief in the All-Star Game, striking out one while not giving up a hit or walk. 

 

RP - Ben Dean (Keene, Duke)

 

Dean was masterful on the bump this summer, posting a 1.50 ERA in 10 games played. He only gave up six hits, never allowing multiple in one outing. A major part of Keene’s success, Dean also punched out 28 in 18 innings of work.

 

RP - Luc Lavigueur (Ocean State, Maine) 

 

The righty from Newport, Rhode Island, was a reliable arm of the Ocean State bullpen. In 18.1 innings over 13 games, Laviguer earned two saves while striking out 27. He allowed just nine walks and 14 hits.

 

RP - Drew Smith (Sanford, UConn)

 

Smith recorded a 1.52 ERA on the year for Sanford, a part of a stellar bullpen that propelled the Mainers to another playoff appearance. In 13 appearances, Smith struck out 20 over 23.2 innings, while allowing an earned run in just three games.

 

CP - Tyler Longoria (Sanford, St. John’s)

 

While throwing fewer innings than most on the list, Longoria made the most of his opportunities. Across eight games and 15 innings pitched, Longoria fanned 17 while walking just four. He was also awarded four wins on the season.
