The Spearfish Sasquatch continued their winning streak Tuesday night as they defeated the Pierre Trappers by a score of 10-2. The Squatch started off hot, scoring 4 runs in the first inning. In the third inning Hayden Driggs drove in Matt Crossley with a fielder’s choice to push the lead 5-0. Later in that inning with a runner on third, Cade Ostenson stepped up to the plate and knocked in Seth Surett to extend the lead yet again to 6-0.
The offense dominated early and never looked back with the help of Seth Surrett, who was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s. Center Fielder Ben Parker also came up big for the Sasquatch tonight after driving in a single to extend the lead to 7-0, with Surrett quickly following with 3 more to make it 10-0.
A strong performance by Nico Saldias set the tone all game and helped the Squatch with pitched in 6 innings, faced 20 batters, walked two hitters, and had 3 strikeouts. The Trappers eventually broke the shutout and tacked on 2 runs in the 9th, but it was too little too late as the game finished in favor of the home team 10-2.
The Sasquatch will be back in action June 4th as they take on the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs (3-2) in Minot, ND.
