Seth Surrett had not even been in Spearfish for more than a day when he made his first at-bat for the Sasquatch on Tuesday night. But it was his second plate appearance that will be one he'll never forget.
With the go-ahead run on third base, Seth Surrett singled to right field to score the game-winning run and complete a three-run deficit against the Pierre Trappers.
The Sasquatch started off hot with three runs in the opening inning thanks to back-to-back doubles from Ryan Bachman and Matt Crossley but the Trappers answered with five runs in the second and fifth inning.
Tyler Skelton singled in two runs in the second inning to tie the game up and came into tonight's match-up leading the team with a .455 batting average and tied for the most hits in the Expedition with 10.
Chandler Ibach's RBI sacrifice fly in the 5th inning closed the gap to a one-run ballgame but two errors from the Sasquatch defense allowed Pierre to add two runs to the scoreboard.
Ryan Bachman picked up his third hit of the night with an RBI single and Matt Crossley followed that with an RBI sacrifice fly to cut the lead to one but Trappers pitcher Tyler Luban escaped without giving up any more damage.
Both teams went scoreless in the 7th and 8th innings, with Hunter Runion and Logan Wensley combining for 4.2 innings pitched and eight strikeouts. Wensley made his third appearance of the season, picking up the victory with two scoreless innings pitched.
Johnny McHenry also made his Sasquatch debut in the 9th after pinch-hitting for Andrew Lalum and led off the final frame with a walk. Chandler Ibach followed McHenry with another base on balls after a six-pitch at-bat. McHenry was able to steal third base and scored off of Cade Ostenson's RBI single to tie the game up.
The Sasquatch improves to 4-1 on the season and hosts the Trappers again tomorrow at 6:30 M.T.
