FORMER PACIFICS MAZZA EARNS FIRST MLB WIN IN SEASON FINALE WITH METS

ALUMNI UPDATE:

Former San Rafael Pacifics pitcher Chris Mazza earned his first Major League Baseball victory on September 29th, 2019 game vs. the Atlanta Braves. In 2018, the Walnut Creek native went 3-2 with a .59 ERA in 30.2 innings pitched with 31 strikeouts with the Pacifics before getting promoted to the South Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League.

In 2019, Mazza spent time in both the AA and AAA affiliate of the New York Mets before getting the call to the show. After almost eight full seasons in the minors, Mazza made his MLB debut on June 29th against the Atlanta Braves where he threw four innings of one run ball.

Mazza ended his first MLB season with 16.1 innings pitched and 11 strikeouts to just five walks. While the Pacific Association has had over a dozen MLB players play in the league, Mazza became the first Pacific Association player to reach the MLB.
