PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 7/29-8/5

Hitter of the Week - Brent Gillespie

Gillespie went on a power surge this past week, hitting a home run in every game but one. The Stompers first baseman also had multi hit games in five of his last six games. He slashed .414/.472/1.172, raising his overall OPS to 1.109.

Pitcher of the Week - Mike Melendez

In a week in which twenty players hit over .300, dominant pitchers are hard to find. Mike Melendez was the best of them, throwing 7.1 innings of one run ball while striking out seven. The Vallejo pitcher lowered his ERA by almost 70 points and could be a key piece in a late playoff push.

Performance of the week (hitter) - Miles Williams

The Sonoma Stompers’ outfielder went two-for-four with two home runs, six RBI’s, and four runs in a 21-8 win over the Stockade.

Performance of the Week (pitcher) - Joseph Broderick

Performance of the Week is ruled by the Stompers this week, as Broderick went seven innings of two run ball while striking out eight in an 8-2 Stompers win over the Stockade.
