PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 7/17-7/24

Hitter of the Week: Matt Eureste - Vallejo Admirals

Eureste sported a 1.215 OPS this past week, mashing two home runs and driving in ten. The Vallejo infielder smacked at least one hit in all but one game, topping off his week with a 4-4 with a home run and six RBIs last Saturday. The past seven days came as no surprise to Vallejo faithful, as Eureste raised his already above average .856 OPS by just under 100 points.

Pitcher of the Week: Jailen Peguero - San Rafael Pacifics

The Pacifics’ pitcher is an odd choice for pitcher of the week as he only pitched 3.2 innings. Not allowing a run in a little under four innings is by no means unheard of; striking out 11 is. Jailen Peguero struck out every man he faced except for two (a Vlad Gomez single and one hit by pitch). Peguero does have major league experience, but even big league pitchers have found it difficult to miss bats at this level. The Dominican Republic reliever now has a baffling 49 Ks in 25.2 innings, good for a 17.2 K/9.

Performance of the Week (hitter): Dondrei Hubbard

Sonoma Stompers’ centerfielder Dondrei Hubbard helped out-slug the Admirals, going three-for-five performance while belting two home runs and scoring four times this past Friday.

Performance of the Week (pitcher): Dakota Freese

Vallejo Admirals starting pitcher Dakota Freese shoved this past Tuesday, throwing six scoreless innings while striking out nine and leading the Admirals to a 7-0 win over the Stockade.
