The Redbirds Hockey program continues to add skill and depth to a program that has been moving up at both the American College Hockey Association DI and DII levels.  Illinois State University, located right off of I-55 between St. Louis and Chicago has received commitments from outstanding players from excellent programs in both cities.

Defenseman Jack Kremer of the Affton Americans came highly recommended by his CSDHL U18 Head Coach Bob Bucher.  "Jackson is a solid young man on and off the ice with qualities I have seen of the many ISU students I have met over the years.  He brings energy and speed with the ability to change the tempo of any game with a single rush.  I am excited to see him in an ISU jersey next year."

When Jack was asked why he decided to commit to Illinois State University.  "I felt very comfortable when I visited ISU.  I like that the campus didn't feel overwhelming and it's not too far from home.  And of course, I am excited that I can continue to play hockey"  Jack intends on Majoring in Chemistry/Pre-pharmacy.

In reminiscing about his development in youth hockey Jack said his favorite coaches were Todd Wess who was one of his first coaches who helped develop his love for the game and work ethic.  "He taught me to be confident with the puck and saw my potential as a player."  He also mentioned Bob Bucher, his current coach.  "He has grown my confidence as a person and as a hockey player.  I appreciate the trust he has in me by making me a Captain."

"We believe Jack will have an immediate impact in improving our defensive corps.  He has the skill sets we look for in Redbird defensemen.  Confident with the puck and great decision making.  Beyond his on ice abilities, Jack's character and attitude off the ice is something we want and expect in all of our players.  I have had a long relationship with Coach Bucher from his time as a Head Coach in the ACHA and I respect his opinion of players.  His recommendation of Jack made me comfortable knowing this was a player that will make his mark in our program."  said Head Coach Michael Hernbrott

We look forward to having the entire Kremer family including younger brother Ben as part of the Redbird Hockey family.

This is a homecoming for Andrew Meyer.  Although Andrew has spent the last few years with the Chicago Bruins CSDHL program he spent his younger development years in the Bloomington Thunder program.  Andrew is no stranger to big games.  He has won NIHL Championships with the Thunder and State Championships with the Bruins.

Andrew chose Illinois State University because "I really like the campus and it is right next to home."  He will also be joining several of his former Bruins teammates who are already part of the program.  Exercise Science is the intended major Andrew will be pursuing.  " I am most looking forward to the academics that the university has to offer.

DI Head Coach Bobby DiNardi said "We're happy to have Andrew as a Redbird.  He's a good kid that I've personally watched grow on and off the ice over the years.  We're excited to see his progression in the next four years and fills a huge need for the organization."

Andrew wanted to thank his favorite Head Coach Rohdenburg.  "For the past year and a half, he has helped motivate me to try my best and as a result has helped me get a lot better.  He brought me in with open arms and treated me as if I was his own kid when I first came to the Bruins."

Andrew's biggest supporters are his parents.  "They make the two hour drive to take me to and from practices and games to be able to play for the Bruins."

His favorite memory was winning the State Championship last year.

Andrew also shared a quote he once heard in his locker room.  We know he'll bring this attitude to ours.  "Strive for success.  Give it your all when are given the opportunity because it pays off in the long run.

Welcome to both Andrew and Jack.  We are very excited to watch you develop as Redbirds.
