Redbirds welcome stout forward Tony Campise!
Date: Jul 27, 2020

The Illinois State Redbirds welcome Sean Meyer to the family! Meyer, a 5’11” 170 lb speedy forward hails from Tremont, IL. He is the 3rd player to commit to Illinois State from the successful Bloomington Thunder team last season. He finished 2nd in NJPHL Scoring with 24 goals, 11 assists, and 35 points.
Meyer joins the Redbirds following a successful season with the Thunder. He chose Illinois State University for the quality of education and proximity to home. His favorite coaches were Brad Windsor and Jim Resser for driving his love for the game when he was young! His parents have been his biggest supporters throughout his career, offering many sacrifices for his success in the game.
Meyer’s favorite hockey memories have been the people, players, and friends. “My favorite memories have been the road trips and what came with them. All the hockey, hotels, and hangin with the boys.” If he could be any animal, he would be a Lion, because they’re Kings of the Jungle. He most looks forward to playing hockey for Illinois State University. He will bring his siblings, Andrea, Talia, and Joel to the Redbird fan club.
“Sean has a lot of growing potential in his game. He’s a very athletic player and can take his skills to another level. He is the type of player willing to work for it and his attitude is good. He will be an effective player at Illinois State.” -D1 Head Coach Bobby DiNardi.
The Redbirds are building to make a run at their first ACHA D1 conference title in 2020-2021, as they play their second season in the Midwest College Hockey conference. For more information on the conference, click here.
