GM’s Beginning of the Month Report, Sunday September 2, 2018: Sunrise is at 6:54am and sunset is at 9:00pm for a total of 14 hours and 7 minutes of daylight. Things were a little crazy the beginning of August so I didn’t get a chance to write a report. The Miners won the league championship for the third year in a row August 5th. “2018 Alaska Baseball League Champions” #3PETE!!! The 6th the team and our volunteers got the field cleaned and the clubhouse ready for the security people of the fair to use. Denise and I ; the players all flew out to go home on the evening of the 7th. Denise and I flew to Florida to see our son graduate from University of Florida with his PhD in Chemical engineering. Denise came home afterwards and I drove from Gainesville to San Antonio with all of our son’s belongings. I stayed an extra week and Terry took care of the field. Mowing the field the has been tough with all the rain the last 4 weeks, but Terry and I are keeping it well maintained. Soon the water will be shut off and the sprinklers maintained for the winter. It was 39 degrees this morning and you can feel the temperatures change to fall.
The 2019 Roster is shaping up, Head Ben Taylor has done a great job recruiting for next year and our roster is set. Of course, we average a 25% change by May due to injury/educational issues and have to replace them. But we’ve got a good start and will be keeping an eye on the guys. I’ll be calling each of them and sending out contracts.
We are gearing up for the 15th Annual Dinner Auction November 3rd and WE ARE SOLD OUT. In one week the tickets were snagged up. Denise will be calling for donations and if you would like to help or have a donation call the Miners at 907-745-6401. Next report will be October 1st. Take care. Pete and Denise
