Hometown kid gets first win as a Grader!
Date: Jun 21, 2018

Galion, OH - After tonight's game against the Xenia Scouts (1-3), the Graders (5-0) have now won their past 5 contests in a row! This win streak dates back to the first series of the year against the Licking County Settlers.
The scoring started in the first inning when the first three batters of the game all singled to load the bases for Austin Hathaway. Hathaway hit a grand slam clearing the bases for his first homer on the short season making the game 4-0 with no outs. From there the hit parade didn't stop. Michael Rodriquez then singled making it 5 consecutive batters to get a hit to start the ballgame. Soon after, Cole Andrews knocked in Rodriguez from third after he stole second then advanced on a passed ball making the game 5-0.
The Scouts answered in the top of the second inning with two of their own runs, but it would be no match for the Graders as they would go on to score at least a run in each of the next four innings.
The Graders had 3 guys have 3 hit games (Stone, Jordan, De La Cruz), two men with 5 RBI games (De La Cruz, Hathaway), two men with home runs (De La Cruz, Hathaway) and every man in the starting lineup reached base at least one time in tonight's game.
Clayton Cooper got the start and the win for the Graders. Cooper finished the night with 5 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3BB, and 6K's.
Coopers's counter part, Steventon, was pulled with no outs in the second inning with a line of 2 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, and 1 K, but it was Wentz who took the loss for the Scouts. Wentz had 4 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 5 BB and 1 K.
Mac Spears was able to come in the game to get the 4 inning save for the Graders and secure the win.
