As the playoffs still continue for the Wisconsin RiverWolves, Jake Harris has one less concern to worry about.  Jake has been accepted and has committed to join the Redbird Hockey program for the 2018-2019 season.  "I chose Illinois State because of the great athletic training program they offer, and because I have many friends on the team and at the school.  I've heard numerous great things about the coaching staff as well as the program itself from the guys on the team. I wanted to be a part of all the success."

Jake plans on studying Athletic Training with a minor in Nutrition.  As Jake reflected upon the end of his years in Junior hockey and his next step in college he said  "I definitely have to thank my dad, he’s always pushed me to be the best I can be on and off the ice."

"A few of our current players, Connor Boscaccy and Max Puscheck recommended we take a look at Jake.  We were impressed with Jake's work ethic, attitude and conditioning.  His skill set and character are qualities we know will benefit the program." stated DI Head Coach Bobby DiNardi.

DII Head Coach Michael Hernbrott added "We're excited to be adding Jake to our program.  His addition is one of those times where everything fits perfectly.  He's an excellent player.  Illinois State is a perfect fit for what he wants to study.  Equal to our desire to be successful on the ice we want our players succeed in gaining a quality education."

When asked about any advice he'd give to younger players, Jake responded.  "If you want to be a successful hockey player you have to put in extra work, on or off the ice. Champions aren’t made overnight they’re made with hard work when no one is watching you."

That's the attitude we can't wait to see from Jake.

Illinois State University Redbird Hockey will begin their 50th year in the 2018-2019 season.  It is only one of three ACHA DI programs in the state of Illinois.  It consists of both an ACHA DI & DII program.
