Cory Schwarz will continue his hockey career and education at Illinois State University! He comes to Illinois State Hockey from the USPHL Chicago Cougars. Schwarz’s advancement to ISU from the Cougars continues a line of players that began last season with Andrew VanDyke and Mike Kavanagh.

Schwarz is from Wood Dale, IL. He stands 5 feet 11 inches, 210 lbs. Cory has had a productive return to the Cougars after a mid-season trade from the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings. He has potted 11 goals and 10 assists with the Cougars this season. For the season he has 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points with only 18 penalty minutes.

Illinois State became a clear choice for Schwarz after visiting the campus. Schwarz says, “I fell in love with the campus the first time I visited and Illinois State has a great business program.”  He intends to major in Business Management. His favorite coach is Bill Zaniboni(Dells Ducks) for developing his offensive game and confidence in his play. Schwarz most memorable moment in hockey was having his teeth knocked out last year, “truly unforgettable.” The Schwarz family will be rooting on Illinois State for years to come. Though, his brother Johnny, may wait until after his hockey career at Lewis is over!

“We’re extremely pleased to have Cory coming in next season. As soon as I got word he was interested, I made contact. He has the skills, hockey IQ, and great attitude. The three things required to play for our organization. Coach Brad Stoffers speaks highly of Cory’s locker room character and has helped us in the process. We look for Cory to do big things for us next season.” -Coach Bobby DiNardi
