Hanover, NH - This weekend brought about another set of solid performances but less than perfect results for the Big Green. After a heartbreaker overtime loss on Friday night, the team suffered a similar disappointing finish to a game verse rival Vermont.

Friday -

The well-prepared Mustangs of Central Maine Community College got the best of the young Big Green squad, jumping to a 4-0 lead in the first half of the first period. The Big Green battled back hard, but were stunned in overtime on a short-side shot that snuck past senior net minder Michael Colon.

The first period was certainly less than optimal in for Dartmouth, as the Mustangs scored four goals despite the Big Green possessing the puck for the majority of the period. After two quick goals late in the first, however, the Big Green were back in the mix.

The second period was scoreless with Dartmouth registering well over 20 shots in the period and CMCC's goalie performing in an outstanding display of athleticism and luck. Several power plays were generated by both teams, but no goals came to fruition.

The third period saw more offensive dominance from Dartmouth, and three unanswered goals. Kyle Halloran scored two beauty goals on the same shift, the latter assisted by Jack Mascali. The Mascali-Baylor-Halloran line continued to generate offense on their ensuing shift with Mascali assisting yet another goal by Paul Woodberry that gave the Big Green a 5-4 lead. The Mustangs answered back quickly and tied it up 5-5 with 3 minutes left in the game.

Overtime was again dominated by Dartmouth in the offensive zone, with Matt Armstrong nearly polishing off the game on two great rebound chances in front of the net. Central Maine, however, was able to close the game off with a lucky shot on the short side of the net to win it in OT.

Saturday -

The Big Green looked to bounce back from a disappointing loss on Friday in a tough battle against rival Vermont. A scoreless first proved that the game was set to be a battle all afternoon, with both teams playing sharp defense, and generating good offense but not capitalizing on any opportunities.

The second period began as many of the team's games have so far, with a offensive burst for the opposition. The Catamounts jumped out to a 2-0 lead early, and the Big Green battled back hard, ending the frame down 2-1.

The game stayed tight until the final 6 minutes of the game, in which Vermont scored 3 goals in 33 seconds to break open the game and take home the victory, splitting the season series between the two teams.

The team faces off against a strong St. Anselm squad that has started this campaign well.
