Big Green Back on Track Heading into Winter Break
Date: Nov 16, 2022
Hanover, NH - After the annual NECHA summit conference in Keene, NH on April 27, the Big Green emerged members of the new NECHA Colonial North conference, in the M3 division of the ACHA. The move comes after months of planning on the part of the coaching staff and student leadership. The new conference will feature Dartmouth College, Bates College, St. Joseph's College of Maine, Thomas College, University of New England, and Colby-Sawyer College.
Dartmouth will entire the season as a probationary member of the conference, which means they will not be able to compete for the conference championship this season, as is the policy in NECHA when a team joins a new conference. However, the team will be eligible for regionals and nationals, which is governed by the ACHA and determined by overall record.
Associate coach Michael Fisher is excited about the move. "I’m excited for the boys and for our program. We intend to hit the ground running and be extremely competitive right away in what has historically been a tight division." The team has high expectations for next season, as the coaches expect to add at least 8 freshmen or new upperclassmen, while only graduating one senior, and receiving standout goalies Oscar Flory and Robbie DeAngelo back into the lineup after their transfer years.
Stay tuned for more details about the upcoming season and other news.
