Big Green Back on Track Heading into Winter Break
Date: Nov 16, 2022
The second-most geographically southern player on the team, Silky Mitts is fresh off an intense off-season and ready to rock as the self-proclaimed "John Scott" of Dartmouth ACHA hockey.
[Pax]: Hey duuuuuuude, glad to hear from you. Hope you're ready for a sick year. I'll start you off with a little warm up question. How are you?
-[Ty]: "Pretty good, but pretty tired. Just coming back from DOC Trips which was exhausting. I did some recruiting for Club Puck while at the lodge. There were some dedicated prospects carrying around their Trips gear in hockey bags."
Okay kind of a long-winded answer, but glad to see your emotionally invested in this interview. Give us a little background on your hockey career.
-"I started playing for the Howard Huskies when I was 4 and peaked in squirts when I was voted Captain because I was the only kid who could get a shot off the ice. Fallen off a bit since then, but I'm working on getting my hands back."
So you were a trip leader, how was that?
-"I lead a canoeing trip which was great. My coleader was awesome and the 21's were super helpful and fun. My co and I had no canoeing experience but the Trip went really smooth."
I'm sure all the protein from Robbie Frost's ashes were great for those biceps. Best coach you've ever played for?
-"My dad usually coached my teams so I'll go ahead and pick someone other than him so I'm not biased. I played for Coach John Poisal with the Huskies when I was younger and he's a great coach. He really cared for and inspired players."
Was your dad like LaVar Ball?
-"I don't think so... I didn't get my own custom line of gear at 15 years old so can't really say so."
Oh man, that's a shame. Imagine having a dad who could beat Jordan 1-on-1. I mean, come on. If you were to create yourself in NHL 18, what rating would you make yourself?
-"Never been too much of an NHL player myself, but rate me whatever John Scott is rated. No disrespect to Scott, we just have similar enforcer type play styles, you know?"
You don't play NHL? You're getting fined. What is your favorite sneaker?
-"Nike free runs never let me down. Always my go to. Whenever mine get old I just order a new pair in a new color."
I'm more of a Yeezy Boost 350 V2 guy myself. Okay, elephant in the room here. What kind of accent do you have?
-"Wow that's a tough one. I don't think I have one but people tell me I sound Californian / like a surfer a lot. Ask Charlie Gilmore how he would define it."
Yeah you're from the Mid-Atlantic, not sure where that accent comes from. And your parents don't talk that way either, hmm. Favorite amount of weight to bench press?
-"Been making some sweet gainz in the off season and I've been doing 195 for 5x5 lately. Trying to hit 200 soon."
That's insane. You should walk on to the football team. What's the most anticipated game of this upcoming season for you?
-"Easily Harvard. They're of similar skill to us and the only Ivy we play outside of the Ivy League tournament in Philly. We've had some intense games against them and they give us an idea of how we stack up in the Ivy League."
Can't wait for that one strictly from a press / hype beast perspective. Best pick-up line to use on Friendsy?
-"What's Friendsy?"
This kid only meets his chicks in person, a genuine man. Which MLB team has the coolest logo?
-"I don't follow baseball too much but I'll say the Pirates because I'm a Pittsburgh fan. The Rockies have a nice one too. The purple and mountains is cool."
Speaking of logos, have you ever looked closely at the FedEx logo? Between the second "E" and the "x" is an arrow. Crazy, right? Favorite DMV artist?
-"Gotta give a shoutout to my boy Young Author. He's one of my best friends from back home and he's on the come-up. Check him out on SoundCloud."
Soundcloud rappers make the world go round, word to Lil Pump. Favorite cartoon?
-"Back in my middle school days Gravity Falls was great. Come to think of it, that show is still great."
Hey buddy, the first eppie of Gravity Falls didn't even get released until like 2012, so you were watching that show in high school. But who's paying attention though? Favorite college other than dartmouth?
-"Hard to say because I was ED and Dartmouth was at the top of my list by leaps and bounds. Maybe Carnegie Mellon because they have a great engineering program and are in the Burgh."
Big Dartmouth guy. Favorite family guy character?
-"I'll go with Brian. How do you not like a talking dog?"
There we go, thanks for tuning in once again boys and girls. With the reggy season soon upon us, its time for our staff to stop sitting on the beach slamming Coronas (21+ only), and get to providing the quality content you all deserve.
