Meet the Players - Episode 6: Ian Frey

Date:  Source: Dartmouth Club Hockey

This one is especially funny because this is likely the most amount of words Ian has said in a single conversation before, so we're all excited to see what he has to say.

[Pax]: "What was your earliest hockey memory?"

[Ian]: "I played goalie in mites, and I had to get pulled one game because I was crying after letting 4 consecutive goals in and couldn't finish the game. (True story)"

"Nice, nice. Quick question. Who are you again?"

"I often find myself asking the same question."

"K good answer. When did you start playing hockey and what attracted you to the sport?"

"I started paying hockey when I was 4 because my uncle played."

"So no broom ball on Mont Tremblant? Would you rather win 1 Stanley cup as a player or 6 as a coach?"

"One as a Player. Seems like way more of a thrill."

"Seems like a bit of a slap in the face to Scotty Bowman. What was your career path leading up to college hockey?"

"I played youth hockey in my hometown organization, The Saratoga Blue Knights back in NY. I then moved up and played for my high school, the Saratoga Blue Streaks before coming to Dartmouth."

"Vegas Knights before they were cool. How was sophomore summer?"

"Solid 7/10."

"Sorry we aren't a state school. Who's the worst teammate you've ever had?"

"Hands down Hunter Cohen. Kid literally made Matt Gardner cry."

"Wait really? When was this? What the - alright, I'll have to do some inquiry. If you could live anywhere on earth where would it be?"

"Probably the French Alps. I love to ski and it's in my opinion one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. I also took French 2 here so I consider myself fluent."

"Ah oui, vous pouvez skier, mais vous ne pouvez pas sortir la puck de notre zoneFavorite NHL team?"

"Buffalo Sabres. Please leave me alone."

"Just trying to do an interview here bud, this is a judgement-free zone, Planet Fitness style. I'll give you an easier one. Favorite indoor football team?"

"Dallas Cowboys."

"Alright, that was hands down the best answer we've gotten so far on any of these. Best memory from your college career so far on and off the ice?"

"On ice: beating Harvard in our home opener last year in front of a sell out crowd. Off ice: riding seven hours both ways to philly in a van with coach Gill."

"That guy seems to be a central point in most of the noteworthy stories from last season. Favorite dipping sauce for nuggets?"

"I eat my nuggets dry like a man."

"Ah, a dry guy. Interesting fact: most serial killers are dry guys. Okay, sorry to bring this up again, but I need some clarification. Are you actually on the team?"

"I think so? Not sure of my official status so can't comment on that one."

"Tryouts are soon upon us. Favorite family guy character?"

"Consuela."

"No, no."

Alright boys, hoped you learned some interesting things about Ian "The X-Factor" Frey.
