Sharks Announce New Head Coach and Assistant Coaches

The Martha's Vineyard Sharks would like to announce the new Head Coach for the 2018 season will be Justin Edwards. Edwards a former Head Coach in the Futures League that won back to back Championships in 2014-15.The minor league veteran gained coaching experience during the off-season by working with the pitchers at Wheeling Jesuit University as a graduate assistant.
     Edwards earned a degree in Physical Education/Health from West Liberty and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Wheeling Jesuit. He is a resident of Elm Grove, W.Va. Russ Curran Sharks General Manager stated " Justin comes here with proof he can win a Championship in this League and that is what he plans to do".He went on to say " Martha's Vineyard is a unique place to have a summer team there are a lot of challenges here and we intend to support Justin during the transition". After graduating from West Liberty, Edwards embarked on a professional baseball career. He made his debut in 2007 with the Utica (N.Y.) Brewmasters in the New York League before moving on to play with the Worcester (Mass.) Tornadoes in the Can-Am League.
     Edwards moved closer to home in 2009 when he signed with the Washington (Pa.) Wild Things of the Frontier League and spent three years with the Wild Things. He had his best season in 2011 when he posted a 5-3 record on the mound and finished second in the Frontier League with a sparkling 2.16 ERA.
     That performance earned him an invitation to the Independent Leagues All-Star Game in St. Petersburg, Fla. and a late-season promotion to the York (Pa.) Revolution for their Atlantic League playoff run.
Andrew McKeon (Anna Maria College Pitching Coach) will return as the clubs pitching coach in 2018.
 The Sharks also added a new Hitting Coach for 2018 Alan Robbins a West Virginia Native.Alan spent his summers playing collegiate summer baseball in the Great Lakes League, the Coastal Plain League and the Alaska Baseball League. 

In 2006, Alan was a 32nd round draft pick for the Philadelphia Phillies, playing with the organization he made stops in the Lakewood, New Jersey; Williamsport, Pennsylvania; Clearwater, Florida; Redding, Pennsylvania. Alan finished off his professional career in the Frontier League with the Washington Wildthings in 2010.
