GENERALS REPEAT AS ACH REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS

The Stoney Creek Generals repeated as regular season champions after securing 1st place with an 18-4-2 record, finishing with 55 points this season. The journey to the Allan Cup starts on Saturday March 4 at 7:15PM at Gateway Ice Centre where they will face off in round 1 against the Dundas Real McCoys. 

Dundas enters the semifinals after beating the Brantford Blast 2-0 in the best of 3 Preliminary Qualifier. In their regular season meetings, the Generals were 4-0 against the McCoys. 

In October, the Real McCoys travelled to Gateway for a hard fought battle which ended up in a shootout. Justin Donati scored twice in the shootout securing the 4-3 victory at home for the Generals. 

Their next meeting took place in January, as Dundas visited Gateway on January 7 where the Generals held strong for 50 minutes of play before Dundas managed to score their first goal. Stoney Creek’s Jarrett Konkle shined in this game, with 5 points and helping the team secure an 8-2 victory. 

Their second January meeting took place in Dundas on January 13; the first period saw Stoney Creek score early but by the end of the first the game was tied at 2. The remaining 40 minutes of play, the Generals took off, scoring an additional 5 goals and Stoney Creek’s Matt Dzieduszycki earned himself a hat trick and an assist for a 4 point game. The final score was 7-2 for Stoney Creek. 

Their final regular season meeting took place on February 17 in Dundas where the Real McCoys scored first but they could not hang on to the lead for long, as the Generals answered back 8 times by the end of the second period. Dundas’ Ben Skinner scored 2 goals for the Real McCoys’ in the third period but it wasn’t  enough as General Jarrett Konkle added one more to his impressive evening, securing a 9-3 victory for Stoney Creek.
