LES CANADIENNES UNVEIL 2016-17 ROSTER
Date: Oct 6, 2016
With the 2016-17 Canadian Women’s Hockey League season rapidly approaching, Les Canadiennes, proud partners of the Montreal Canadiens, have once again set their sights on increasing the team’s steadily rising attendance.
After posting a near-perfect regular season record overall last year, Les Canadiennes will open the 2016-17 campaign on the road against the Brampton Thunder on Oct. 15 and 16. They’ll return home to their passionate fans a week later for a rematch against the Toronto Furies on Oct. 22 and 23, whom they swept in two straight games in last season’s playoffs, to earn their sixth Clarkson Cup berth in nine seasons.
Thanks to a continuously-growing fan base, attendance has nearly doubled annually for the past five years. This includes several sold-out contests this past season, during which Les Canadiennes posted a perfect home ice record in the regular season and playoffs, with an average of 100,000 viewers per game tuning into the league games broadcast on Sportsnet. The team has also seen a healthy gain in online sales over the past two seasons.
Fans purchasing season tickets will enjoy admission to all 12 home games; a ticket to 2017 CWHL All-Star Game; a coupon for a discount on merchandise; and two coupons to bring a friend, when accompanied by a season ticket-holder. Those who purchase by August 31, 2016 will also be entered in a draw to win a Les Canadiennes jersey, autographed by the whole team. Season tickets are on sale now for $150 – a $30 savings over the single game price of $15 per game – and can be purchased by visiting the CWHL website (www.cwhl.ca) or http://bit.ly/Billets201617Tickets.
Individual tickets will go on sale in September.
The 2016-17 season marks the 10th in CWHL history and will feature five designated Heritage Games, each of which will honour team alumni and those who have contributed to the team and league’s growth over the past 10 years. Les Canadiennes will host their Heritage Game on Dec. 10, 2016, against the Calgary Inferno. The full season schedule can be found at http://bit.ly/LCHF201617CWHL.
