.Lawrence University was able to hold off Welly Classic in a back and forth defensive struggle. Lawrence seemed to have just a slight edge in energy, where Welly Classic was lacking. The game was up and down and after multiple lead changes in the first half Lawrence seemed to have an answer for every Welly run.

Lawrence got major contributions from Ben Peterson who finished with game high 16 points and 8 rebounds. Welly had great balance among them but with the defensive intensity it was tough for anybody other than Samuelson (12 points) to get their own shot. Lawrence ends up holding off Welly and winning 51-49.
