The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (14-22) failed to take advantage of Scott Manea's effort at the plate on Sunday, losing 10-9 to the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (16-20) in 10 innings at Doyle Field.
Manea blasted two home runs for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. Manea went 4-5 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Manea homered in the sixth and tenth innings.
The two teams combined for 19 runs and 31 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with seven pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Grant Lamberton had two extra-base hits for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks. He homered in the second inning, doubled in the seventh inning, and singled in the ninth inning.
Cameron Sepede improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks. He allowed two runs over 3 1/3 innings. Sepede struck out five, walked none and gave up four hits.
Tyler Luneke (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
The Marthas Vineyard Sharks' Jacob Rhinesmith, Lamberton, Tommy OHara and Alex Lewis combined for 11 hits and eight RBIs.
