Colorado Burgundy outlasts Maryland, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Colorado Burgundy escaped with a 4-2 victory over Maryland.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Chris Sherrill at 11:54 of the third period.

Garrett Devine had a great game for Colorado Burgundy, netting two goals. Devine found the back of the net 5:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Colorado Burgundy and again while 14:57 into the third to make the score 4-2 Colorado Burgundy.

Colorado Burgundy pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Colorado Burgundy put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Maryland to score on any of its six power plays.

Colorado Burgundy also got points from Chris Kiserr, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Colorado Burgundy came via Austin Brodie, who had two and Ben Lepper, Jack Steffer, and Charles Stewart, who contributed one each.

Maryland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Maryland was helped by Dominic Norris, who finished with one goal. Norris scored four seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Colorado Burgundy. Vincent Venuti picked up the assist. Maryland also got a goal from Tim Cheban as well. Other players who recorded assists for Maryland were Rowan McCarthy, who had one.

Dylan Wheelerr rejected 16 shots on goal for Colorado Burgundy. Mathew Derry recorded 20 saves for Maryland. Maryland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
