Wisconsin survives Pittsburgh comeback, wins 4-3

Pittsburgh tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Wisconsin held on for a 4-3 victory.

Wisconsin took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Pittsburgh storm back on a Jonathan Fair goal 7:00 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Aaron Maas had a great game for Wisconsin, netting two goals.

Wisconsin excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Wisconsin also got points from Nico Aguilar, who also had one goal and one assist. Eric Swenson also scored for Wisconsin. More assists for Wisconsin came via Jake Berry and Eric Schoneman, who each chipped in one.

Pittsburgh forced Wisconsin goalie Alex Jones to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Pittsburgh was helped by Antonio Esposito, who grabbed one goal. Esposito scored 3:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Jake Tepe assisted on the tally. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Roman Kraemer as well. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Nick Long, who had one.

Jones recorded 40 saves for Wisconsin. Wisconsin incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Hayden Chieffo made 19 saves for Pittsburgh on 23 shots. Pittsburgh incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
