Former America's Showcase Star Signs NHL Deal

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Massachusetts defeated Mid-American in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).
The shootout featured two attempts between both teams.Massachusetts came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Massachusetts was down 2-0 after a goal by Mid-American's Nikkita Silvchenko at 7:46 in the second period. Massachusetts knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Michael Morrissey at 8:44 in the third period.
Massachusetts put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mid-American to score on any of its four power plays. Massachusetts' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
Massachusetts also got a goal from Josh Boulos as well. Other players who recorded assists for Massachusetts were Matthew Alexander and Anthony Nikolopoulos, who contributed one each.
Mid-American did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 12 saves.
Mid-American was helped by Kyle Fisher, who racked up one goal. Fisher scored 4:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mid-American. Jack Wagner picked up the assist. In addition, Mid-American received assists from Nate Mickey, who had one.
Nick Howard made 12 saves for Massachusetts on 14 shots. Massachusetts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mid-American's Parker Rutherford stopped 13 shots out of the 15 that he faced. Mid-American incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
