Pittsburgh shrugs off penalties, upends Arizona, 3-1

Pittsburgh's penalty kill was superb, as Pittsburgh survived multiple penalties to beat Arizona, 3-1.

Pittsburgh was paced by Tyler Kruszewski, who racked up one goal. Kruszewski scored 10:29 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Easton Alger picked up the assist.

Pittsburgh forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game Pittsburgh had been spending in the box.

Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Sam Delucia and Thomas Krivak, who each put in one. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Stone Haberstroh, Jake Tepe, Antonio Esposito, and Connor Scott, who contributed one each.

Arizona's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Pittsburgh power plays. Arizona did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Arizona averages 5.6 goals per game. Arizona could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Arizona was led by Joshua Roof, who scored the team's only goal. Roof scored on the power play 37 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jared romirez provided the assist.

Ryan Wetherington rejected 15 shots on goal for Pittsburgh. Arizona's Cameron Judge stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Arizona registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
