Whitney's hat trick boosts Arizona over Utah, 16-1

Hunter Whitney lifted Arizona to a 16-1 victory with a hat trick against Utah.

Whitney's first goal came 4:50 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:45 into the first and at 9:38 into the third.

Arizona led 5-1 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

Arizona forced Utah's goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 47 shots and forcing 31 saves. Levi Pompoco made 16 stops and Devin Bain made 15. Arizona bested its season scoring average. This season, Arizona averages 5.6 goals per contest.

Arizona also got points from Michael Emson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brett Charron, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, David Crawford, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Robert Curley, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Wyatt Dodson, who also had three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Cole Tiedemann, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Paxton Parker, who also registered two goals and one assist. Owen Baraban also scored for Arizona. More assists for Arizona came via Joshua Roof, who had three and Justin Hayward, Donovan Myers, Austin Mills, and Matthew Songstad, who each chipped in one.

Utah did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting six shots on net to force five saves. Utah could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Utah was led by Wes Prime, who scored the team's only goal. Prime scored on the power play 2:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Utah had gained a power play chance when Arizona Bench was whistled for too many men.

Jonah Gower recorded five saves for Arizona. Arizona incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Utah registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
