Pittsburgh survives Missouri Blue comeback, wins 5-3

Missouri Blue tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Pittsburgh held on for a 5-3 victory.

Pittsburgh made the score 5-2 on a goal by Roman Kraemer at 11:07 in the third period, and Missouri Blue got as close as 5-3 when Brendan Kelly scored 14:27 into the third period.

Zachery Gielarowski had a great game for Pittsburgh, netting two goals. Gielarowski found the back of the net 7:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh and again while 12:04 into the second to make the score 4-1 Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Pittsburgh also got a goal from Sam Delucia as well. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Mike McCann, Matt Amelio, Antonio Esposito, and Nick Long, who contributed one each and Pat Woomer and Erik Chidester, who each chipped in two.

Missouri Blue's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pittsburgh power plays.

Missouri Blue was led by Robert Seger, who finished with one goal and one assist. Seger scored 5:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pittsburgh. Eric Junge assisted on the tally. Justin Meers also scored for Missouri Blue. More assists for Missouri Blue came via Justin Koch and Seth McArdle, who contributed one each.

Ryan Wetherington recorded 14 saves for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Missouri Blue's Gustav Soderkvist stopped 21 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Missouri Blue incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
