Arizona defeats Somerton

James Lopresti starts wild, but dials in his pitches to get the win. Throwing a complete game is not easy, and Lopresti showed that today, doing a superb job through 6 Innings until he found a little struggle in the bottom of the 7th. 1st pitch through the 6th, James had only given up 5 hits. But that was all going to change, as he can thank his Offense for run support, because the Stingers made a run for the game at the end.

The Somerton Stingers are a never give up team, but they did come up short in this one in the end, but they made the final score respectable. Going into the bottom of the 7th, the score was 8-3, an almost sure thing locked up for the opposing Roadrunners. Tyler Hicks and company had something to say about that though. Facing the same pitcher throughout the whole game helps, as Somerton started at the top of their order in the 7th. 4 Hits and 3 Runs helped the Stingers bring back the score within reasonable distance, but they couldn't finish it, as 5 proved to be too much of a deficit to come back from.

The Roadrunners bats were in the game from the beginning as Arizona posted at least 1 run in every Inning excluding the 6th. That would be the defining factor in the game, other than the gifts which were given by way of errors, which set the Roadrunners up for more runs each inning. It was a good ballgame, anyone's ballgame, all the way until the end. Fans loved it, and so did I. Great Baseball, at a great park, the way it should be, here in the home of the Arizona Winter League; Yuma, Arizona.
