LES CANADIENNES UNVEIL 2016-17 ROSTER
Date: Oct 6, 2016

For the second year in a row and the sixth time in the last eight seasons, Les Canadiennes are headed to the Clarkson Cup Final.
Fans filled Étienne-Desmarteau Arena and the Bell Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday to watch Montreal’s powerful offence dispatch the Toronto Furies in two games in their semi-final series. Caroline Ouellette led the way with eight points over the weekend, including a CWHL playoff record six-point effort (two goals, four assists) on Saturday night. Marie-Philip Poulin, regular season scoring champion and nominee for 2015-16 MVP, followed with seven points (three goals, four assists). Ann-Sophie Bettez and Julie Chu also enjoyed a successful weekend with five and four points, respectively.
Les Canadiennes will now turn their attention to the Calgary Inferno, against whom they will face off in the CWHL championship game. It will be a first-ever Clarkson Cup appearance for the Inferno, who advanced after beating the Brampton Thunder in two games in the other semi-final. Montreal leads the CWHL in Clarkson Cup appearances in addition to a League-best three titles.
In a matchup between the two highest scoring offences in the regular season, the Final will feature the biggest names in women’s hockey, highlighted by Poulin, Ouellette, Chu, Lauriane Rougeau and Charline Labonté for Montreal, and Hayley Wickenheiser, Rebecca Johnston, Brianne Jenner and Meghan Mikkelson-Reid for Calgary, among the multitude of talent on both rosters.
Les Canadiennes and Inferno met six times in the regular season, with Montreal winning four games.
