Marie-Philip Poulin came out on top in a photo finish in the CWHL scoring race, and Les Canadiennes’ offensive prowess was on display to cap off a perfect regular season home record during “Fan Appreciation Weekend” on Saturday and Sunday at Étienne-Desmarteau Arena.

In sweeping their finale against the Boston Blades, Les Canadiennes (21-3-0) closed out the home portion of the 2015-16 regular season with a 12-0-0 record on home ice.

In the tightest race for the Angela James Bowl in CWHL history, Poulin captured the title with a two-point edge on teammate and linemate Ann-Sophie Bettez, a winner of the trophy herself in 2013-14. Fellow linemate Kim Deschênes recorded her first CWHL hat trick on Sunday afternoon and finishing third in League scoring, while Caroline Ouellette hit a milestone of her own, recording her 275th career CWHL point and, thanks to a six-point effort, secured fourth among the League’s point-getters.

Goaltender Charline Labonté capped off another remarkable season between the pipes with her fifth shutout of the season on Saturday, tying a League record also held by Sami Jo Small and Kim St-Pierre. Already securely in first among CWHL netminders in wins and goals-against average, Labonté also claimed top spot with a .925 save percentage.

Game summary (Saturday, Feb. 20): Les Canadiennes 14, Boston Blades 0

Game summary (Sunday, Feb. 21): Les Canadiennes 10, Boston Blades 1

Les Canadiennes now turn their attention to hosting the Toronto Furies this weekend in a best-of-three playoff series for a shot at a berth in the Clarkson Cup. The CWHL’s Clarkson Cup Final will be held in Ottawa at the Canadian Tire Centre March 13 in partnership with the Ottawa Senators.
