Les Canadiennes tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal deficit, but the Calgary Inferno held on for a 4-2 victory.
Calgary made the score 4-1 on a goal by Brianne Jenner at 18 seconds in the third period, and Les Canadiennes got as close as 4-2 when Katia Clement-Heydra scored 14:18 into the third period.
Returning to play after being sidelined all season with an injury, Rebecca Johnston was all over the ice for Calgary, tallying two goals and one assist in the win. Johnston scored the first of her two goals at 15:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Calgary Inferno. Jenner assisted on the tally. Johnston's next tally made the score 2-0 for the Inferno with 1:45 left in the first period.
The Inferno excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Les Canadiennes were unable to stop Calgary Inferno from sending pucks towards the net, and Calgary eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.
Calgary also got points from Jenner, who grabbed one goal and one assist and Jill Saulnier, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Calgary Inferno came via Brigitte Lacquette, who had one.
Les Canadiennes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Calgary Inferno power plays. Les Canadiennes produced less than their average 4.2 goals per game. Les Canadiennes' defense let in more goals also (the team is averaging 1.6 goal against for the season.)
Noemie Marin also scored for Les Canadiennes. In addition, Les Canadiennes received assists from Lauriane Rougeau, who had two and Kim Deschenes and Ann-Sophie Bettez, who each chipped in one.
Delayne Brian made 21 saves for the Calgary Inferno on 23 shots. Calgary incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Charline Labonte stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that she faced. Les Canadiennes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
