The Goulbourn Hornets Novice Girls won gold at the Brockville’s Stacey Dales Tournament on the weekend. This was the first tournament for this team and they started the season off in fine fashion!

In their opening game Saturday the Hornets defeated the Nepean Blue Devils 20-10 and later went on to defeat the Brockville Blazers 41-32 in a hard fought game. 

Sunday morning the Hornets rounded out round robin play with a 33-9 victory over the Kemptville Warriors allowing them to advance to the gold medal game. 

The rematch against the Blue Devils was a tough one as the two teams exchanged leads early on. The Hornets managed to jump ahead and hold on to the lead early in the second half, defeating the Bluedevils 19-8. Solid defensive play seemed to be the key to the Hornets success all weekend long. 

The team also won the dribbling skills event and bump competition which were held during the tournament.

The team looks forward to the Durham City Basketball Tournament coming up in February!
