Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Les Canadiennes defeated Brampton Thunder in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

 

Les Canadiennes overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Les Canadiennes fell behind 3-1 after a short handed goal by Brampton Thunder's Courtney Birchard at 18:00 in the second period. Les Canadiennes tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Cathy Chartrand at 19:32 in the third period.

Les Canadiennes got the win thanks to a spectacular game by star forward, Marie-Philip Poulin, who had two goals and one assist. Poulin scored the first of her two goals on the power play at 4:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Thunder. Les Canadiennes earned a power play opportunity when Rebecca Vint was put in the box for holding. Caroline Ouellette picked up the assist. Poulin's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 5:00 left in the third period. Ann-Sophie Bettez provided the assist, after deftly stealing the puck from Brampton to keep the play in the offensive zone.

Les Canadiennes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Brampton was unable to stop Les Canadiennes from sending pucks towards the net, and Les Canadiennes eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Les Canadiennes' defense let in more goals than usual. Les Canadiennes are averaging 1.5 goal against for the season.

Les Canadiennes additionally got points from Bettez, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Les Canadiennes came via Kim Deschenes and Julie Chu, who contributed one each.

The forwards on both teams weren't the only contributers offensively, with defensemen showcased their scoring touch. Brampton got points from Laura Fortino, who also had one goal and one assist. Sarah Edney also netted a goal for Brampton Thunder. In addition, Brampton received assists from Jocelyne Larocque and Jenna McParland, who each chipped in one.
