Chartland's 3 leads Canada to Victory!

In a battle from start to finish, the Canada Firefighters would become victorious over the United States Coast Guard, 5 to 0. The team went in to the game knowing they would need a four goal differential to claim first place in the 2016 International Police, Fire and Military Games and advance to the medal round to play for gold. US Coast Guard would also come in undefended and looking to advance to the finals.

Canada would not have to wait long for the game winning goal, when defensemen Jonathan Cuneo would send the opening face off win up the wall to Eric Peace. Peace would walk the wall and take a shot from the dot, and sneak it through the five hole on the USCG goaltender. The goal would come at 26 seconds in to the game and that would prove to be all that Canada would need to claim victory. Goaltender Bryce Luker  would shut down the Canadian net, stopping all 24 shots sent his way.

Canada would get some scoring support from the second line, when Joel Chartland would net his first ever hat trick in a Team Canada uniform.  Chartland would score one in the first period, one in the second, and then again mid way through the third, to boost the Canadian line up to victory! Eric Peace would add an insurance marker late in the third to seal the deal. Chartlands was assisted by the efforts of Yan Verhof, Ben Cuneo and David Ramachadam, as all would have helped to aid the effort.

With this win, Canada will now move on to the Gold Medal Game on Sunday against the hometown favorites, in what promises to be an epic battle between Police and Fire.  CFFHC will take on the Lewiston Police Department at 2:50pm.
