Cambridge falls to Brantford in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Kitchener Dutchmen pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks on a clutch goal by Adam Kawalec.
Cambridge was stymied by Kitchener's netminder Cossimo Lazzarino, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Lazzarino certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.95 entering the contest.
The Dutchmen pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.
Kitchener stifled the Winter Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dutchmen's offense operated below their season average. Kitchener puts an average of 4.9 pucks into the net per game. The Dutchmen forced Cambridge goalie Scott Patton to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.
Kitchener also got points from Matthew Cruickshank, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Logan Schmidt and Connor Cole, who each chipped in one.
The Winter Hawks' offense rang up 32 shots on Kitchener's net. Cambridge's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities.
The Winter Hawks were led by Scott Del Zotto, who scored the team's only goal. Del Zotto scored 13:47 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Robert Proner provided the assist.
The Dutchmen registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Scott Patton made 31 saves for Cambridge on 33 shots. The Winter Hawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
