Senior Michael Fairbanks tapped home a goalmouth pass from linemate Garrett Torrico 6:13 into the first overtime session, propelling TeamOne New England to the 2011 Hockey Night in Boston Boys Major Showcase title with a 4-3 win over Northern New England.

The goal capped a furious comeback by TeamOne, which found itself trailing 3-0 midway through the second period. The teams also played during the round-robin portion of the tournament, which TeamOne prevailing by an 8-6 score.

Tournament scoring champion and one of its MVPs Alex Minter started the comeback with a goal at 10:44 of the second period to close NNE's lead to 3-1. Later in the period, TeamOne moved to within a goal when Michael Restuccia took passes from Minter and Bryan Sullivan and put one home.

Sullivan knotted the score at 3-3 midway through the third period, assisted by Minter and Tim Perron, setting the stage for overtime.

On the title-clinching goal, Torrico found himself on the goal line in the right wing corner and fired a pass to the crease, where a streaking Fairbanks was able to tip it past the goaltender and give TeamOne the crown.

Tom Carlaccini and Tom Royer had staked Northern New England to a 2-0 first period lead. Brian Morgan, who also was named a tournament MVP, expanded NNE's lead to 3-0 with a goal in the second period, assisted by Dustin Walsh and Max Woods.
