The announcement will culminate a four-week Name Your Team Contest presented by Pamplin Media.  The response to the contest was overwhelming, with more than twice the number of entries than expected.  Six nicknames were presented, with fans given the opportunity to select one nickname.  The six nicknames were Red Dogs, Pickles, Mud Hounds, Pixels, Posse and Pliers.

 

    The noon announcement on April 21st will take place in the gymnasium at Woodstock Elementary School in front of nearly 100 fifth graders.  The contest winner, chosen through a random drawing of entries for the winning nickname, will be on hand.  The winner receives four season tickets for the team’s inaugural 2016 season.

 

    “We’re very pleased that Principal T.J. Fuller and his staff is hosting this event,” said team President and CEO Ken Wilson.  “It’s part of the team connecting with the community and it will be fun for the kids.”     Woodstock Elementary is located on S.E. 52nd Street in East Portland.
