CCHL: After a tough semi-final series against the host Cornwall Colts, the Carleton Place Canadians used their size and strength to muscle their way into the CCHL final for the second-straight season. They are looking to repeat as CCHL champs and punch their ticket to the Eastern Canadian Championship. The Pembroke Lumber Kings are looking to return to their first championship run since 2011, their first since Dale McTavish took over from Sheldon Keefe following 5-straight CCHL Championships. This one has all the markings of a battle for the ages.
LHJQ: The Sherbrooke Cougars have moved on to the LHJQ final series after a 7-game series against the tenacious Vaudreuil-Dorian Cougars. Sherbrooke was victorious by a 9-1 score in their final contest. They will face-off against Le Collège Français de Longueuil in a series that will begin on Friday, April 10. Of note, both Sherbrooke and Longueuil offer similar facilities to Cornwall’s OHA. Both programs combine hockey with scholastic pursuits. The team from Longueuil comes into the final after defeating the Montagnards de Ste-Agathe.
MJHL: The Maritime Championship has come down to the Dieppe Commandos and the Truro Bearcats. The Commandos found themselves at the top of the standings at the end of the regular season and went on to defeat the Camblellton Tigers in the Meek Division Semi-Final 4 games to none - though the series never featured a game with larger than a 2-goal point-spread. The Commandos then moved on to the Meek Division Final vs the Miramichi Timberwolves which they won 4 games to 2. They now face the Truro Bearcats in the Kent Cup. For their part, the Bearcats finished the regular season in fourth place in the EastLink Division which would see them upset the Pictou Weeks Crushers 4 games to 2, in the EastLink Division Final they upset the Valley Jr A Wildcats 4 games to none. This sets up what should be a feisty final series.
