Wilson brothers pick up weekly MWJHL awards

The Midwest Junior Hockey League today announced its players of the week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 19.

The awards are voted on by league coaches, GMs and league staff.

 

Forward of the Week – Tim Wilson, Berkley Bruins

Wilson, a 1997 birthdate from Milford, Mich., made his Bruins’ season debut last weekend and tallied six goals with three assists for a nine-point weekend as Berkley swept the Alpena Flyers in three straight games at home.

His hat trick on Friday night included goals at even strength, on the power play and shorthanded. Wilson also added an assist for a four-point night. Saturday night, he popped two goals and an assist and then Sunday, Wilson finished the weekend with a goal plus an assist.

For the season, Wilson sits third in Bruins’ team scoring with his nine points.

Last season, Wilson saw action in two games for Berkley, but was held without a point.

Defenseman of the Week – Evan Wilson, Berkley Bruins

A second-year blueliner with the Bruins, Wilson came into last weekend’s three-game series with Alpena pointless, but recorded eight assists in Berkley’s sweep of the Flyers.

Wilson, a 1995 birthdate from Milford, Mich. (and the older brother of Forward of the Week Tim Wilson), rang up three assists Friday night, four on Saturday night and then a single helper Sunday afternoon.

During the 2013-14 season, Wilson (pictured) tallied 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points, good for fourth in Berkley team scoring.
