BERKLEY, Mich. - Tim Wilson's goal in the fourth round of the shootout proved to be the difference-maker as the Berkley Bruins downed the Alpena Flyers 6-5 Sunday afternoon at the Berkley Ice Arena.
All three Bruins' wins this weekend over the Flyers were by 6-5 scores.
Wilson added a goal and an assist in regulation, while Tory Shand popped two goals and an assist and Tim Muhsman and Drew Ferenc scored once with an assist.
Dalton Gertsen notched two assists and Jacob Gorzelski (pictured) made 42 saves in goal for the Bruins.
"The boys found a way today," Muhsman said. "We played hard all three periods. It feels good to get all three wins this weekend, a big momentum boost for next weekend."
Alpena was led by Kyle Stevens' two goals and an assist and Mitchell Skiba's goal plus a helper.
Brandon Bihn and Chris Gatchel also tallied for the Flyers and Connor Kassuba stopped 33 shots in the crease.
After Wilson scored in the shootout, Gorzelski stopped Bihn to gain the sweep for Berkley. Muhsman also scored in the shootout and Garret Bailey scored Alpena's lone goal.
The Bruins now get set to travel to Decatur, Ill., for three games with the Decatur Blaze next weekend. Game times at the Decatur Civic Center are set for 8 p.m. Friday, 8:30 p.m. Saturday and then 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
