Bruins fall Saturday night to Monarchs' offense

BERKLEY, Mich. - The MC Monarchs were led by Adam Jonak's seven-point game (four goals, three assists) in a 12-3 win over the Berkley Bruins Saturday night at the Berkley Ice Arena as the Monarchs took both ends of a home-and-home set to open the season.

Jarrad Vroman added a goal and six assists, Trevor Pode two goals and three assists and Andrew Krolikowski two goals and an assist to pace the Monarchs' attack.

Bryce Peplinski added a goal and two assists, Joe Gibbs picked up a goal and three assists and A.J. DiMercurio tacked on a goal and an assist in the win.

Monarchs' goalie Tyler Skulley made 21 saves in 45 minutes of work for the victory (and also assisted on Vroman's goal) and Joe Burks played the final 15 minutes, stopping all six shots he faced.

For the Bruins, Tim Muhsman, Tory Shand and Alex Anderson scored, while Hunter Myers and Schuyler Patterson-Rostine combined to make 35 saves between the pipes.

The Bruins next play Wednesday night on the road against the Detroit Fighting Irish at the Ice Box Sports Center in Brownstown, Mich. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m.
