Veteran Center Re-Signs with Storm

Charlottetown - Sept 14/13

The Storm's big man is back. Antoine Tisby, a 6'8" 245 lbs Center will return to PEI for his second season with the Storm, pending FIBA clearance.

The Kansas City native joined the Storm in early February last season following his release from the Halifax Rainmen. He proved to be an immediate impact and a key contributor in the Storm's run to the NBL Finals.

Tisby, who averaged 15.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during the regular season, took his game to new heights in the post season when he averaged 17.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Storm Head Coach Joe Salerno says he looks forward to having Tisby in the Storm lineup for the full 2013-2014 season.

"Tis was really the final piece to the puzzle for us last season - that pushed us over the top and into the NBL finals. In my opinion, he was the best pure low post scorer in the NBL last season, and we will look to him to be as productive this year. He is a veteran who understands his role and cares about winning over individual accolades. It was important for us to sign that low post threat, which in turn should help free up some of the very talented perimeter players we have been able to sign.  Signing Tis in February last season really rounded out our roster, it will be nice to start the 2013-14 season with him already in a Storm uniform."

Tisby has had a lengthy and successful professional career, having played in Chile, Germany, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Lebanon, Mexico, Ecuador and Canada. The South Carolina grad was also drafted by the Rio Grand Vipers in the 7th round of the 2010 NBA D-League Draft. Following his successful season with the Storm, he signed with the Otaga OceanaGold Nuggets where he averaged 17.5 points, 9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, this past spring in New Zealand's NBL, earning him Player of the Year honors.

Tisby marks the 5th returnee from the Storm's 2012-2013 roster, joining Al Stewart, Antonio Ballard, Nick Evans and Charlottetown native Doug McKinney. The Storm are scheduled to open up training camp in mid-October.
